The fun and fast way to measure your child’s foot to determine his/her shoe size. Foot Fairy is to be used on the iPad 1, 2 or 3 - NOT the iPad Mini. Simply put your childs foot up against the iPad to get an immediate and fun reading of your childs shoe size. Your kids will love it and you will be comfortable knowing your childs proper shoe size.

Hi, I’m Dr. Sylvie, AKA Dr. ShoeMom®. I’m a podiatrist and a mom to two beautiful girls. One night I was having dinner with my friend Nicole at our favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Nicole, who is also a working mother, was scheming her next day’s task on how to coax her 4th child to be fitted for her first pair of shoes. It occurred to us that fitting your child for shoes should be so much more fun and simple. A couple of glasses of Greek wine later, the Foot Fairy was born! Comfortable shoes are so important for every child’s healthy foot development. We designed the Foot Fairy to make finding the right fitting shoe a snap (or a scan, to be more precise) and to be a lot more fun!

PROPER USE OF THE APP
To use the Foot Fairy - first, follow the instructions and measure your child’s dominant foot (usually the right foot) using this app. Place the childs heel first on the edge of the heel line and the lower the rest of the foot onto the screen. Please make sure your childs foot is pressed FLAT on the screen with toes touching. Once your child’s size is determined, simply order your child a pair of shoes by clicking on Get Shoes at the bottom of the screen. Foot Fairy will measure from an infant size 0.5 to a kids size 13.5. Remember that not all shoes fit exactly the same, so make sure that they fit prior to wearing them outside so they can be returned for a full refund.

You should regularly examine your child’s foot. Look for signs that a shoe is not fitting properly or is too small, such as redness or a sudden development of blisters. Also, a child stating that her shoe is no longer comfortable is another tell-tale sign that it is time to switch to a larger size. A child’s foot should be measured approximately every two to three months for the first 6 years of his or her life.

PROPER SHOE WEARING
It is important that your child try on the shoe since there can be variations in size depending on the brand. The shoe should slip on easily. NEVER force your child’s foot into a shoe. It should be immediately comfortable.

Listen to and watch what your child is and is not saying and doing.  If he states that the shoe is comfortable or immediately starts to jump around, it is probably a comfortable shoe. If a child complains that it hurts or immediately tries to take them off, chances are it is not a comfortable shoe for him or her or it is not the right size.

I do not believe that shoes need to be broken in. They have to be comfortable from the moment a child places them on his or her feet. There should be a thumb width (approximately one-half inch) of room in front of longest toe. In most cases, the big toe is the longest toe but this is not always the case.

I hope the Foot Fairy helps you and your child enjoy good health and comfort in shoes for years to come!
